featuring cinnabar, turquoise, onyx, silver and fossil beads

The Earrings Are In...

Pearls...Pearls...Pearls...
So, to complement the multi-colored pearl necklace I made, I made two pairs of earrings...all in shades of mauve, grey and cream...I think they work!

Branching Out Into Yoyos...

Yoyos are definitely addictive to do and a great way to recycle clothing. It's amazing how fast you can churn out a whole bunch in no time at all...

I'm Making Hats!!!

My first attempt at hat-making is more like a "pillbox" hat but the brim is too tight on my forehead...so, I unravel the taffeta brim...

The finished product is a wearable brimmed hat with a detachible floral brooch which can be pinned onto any other hat or garment!
A beanie with multi-layered sequins topped with a taffeta button and tassel!
A top view, showing the six seqments of the beanie; note the beaded detail on the "brim."

Embroidered Bags

Embroidered Bag With Braided Strap
...and with detachable beads and tassells added...
Embroidered Shoulder Bag With Tasselled Fringe

Detail of Strap - the second bag is fortified with a strap in addition to the braided strap in black, deep red and rust.

All About Frida...

Frida Kahlo Tequila in Three Flavors!!!

These two tops are something I could see in a Frida Kahlo self portrait: traditional peasant blouse on left and rouched velvet bohemian sleeved on the right, paired with a Russian shawl...
The Flowers in Frida's hair inspired me to make these two brooches: heart shaped pearls and...
The pearl brooch worn with a cream satin tuxedo top and a pearl necklace I made...
Detail of pearl necklace which has pink, grey and white pearls as well as a long baroque pink pearl as pendant and heart shaped pearls...
Multicolored plastic flowers, which can be worn on a blouse, a jacket, a hat, a beret...
Brooches worn in the center of each blouse, LHS the pearl hearts, and the flowers on the RHS...

The tops are paired with chunky necklaces and different skirts (above and below) to create different looks: a damask jaquard on the right and a floral tiered on the left; a very flounced black velvet skirt or an embroidered black skirt would also look great!

The necklaces are a multi-strand turquoise chip on the left and a red coral bead strand paired with a cinnabar pendant, plus one that has cinnabar, bone, turquoise and coral tone beads.

My Heart is Blue...

A crystal heart in the brightest cobalt and beads that pair well in a blue & white combo!

Cobalt, Turquoise, White are the main attraction in these earrings...

The Tiki Touch...

A Touch of Tiki

Bone Hairpipe Necklaces with Black Onyx and Catseye Glass beads and veirmeil spacers...
Black horn hairpipe necklace with bone colored fossil beads and catseye glass beads...

A dramatic single strand with horn and bone hairpipes, black onyx and catseye beads...
This looks very tiki with the golden tones of the Tigereye added to the ocean blue Turquoise and the baroque style chips used rather than polished beads...This looks very "Tribal" with the multi-colored beads and silver discs...

Violets in Bloom...

I absolutely LOVE Czech glass beads which have an irridescent finish, like the leaves and violets in this choker and earrings I made...

Button Necklace

Believe it or not, this pendant centerpiece on this choker is actually a very ornate "extra" button from a suit! Incorporated here with Czech Auroraborialis glass beads and Tigereye Glass turquoise and amber colored beads and vermeil spacers and chain.

Klimt in His Garden

Still a work in progress...will add some other touches to it...you know how it goes...a pianting is never quite complete unless it's turned in for exhibition!

Giraffe Clogs

These were once pale, beige clogs, which I reinvented into Giraffe Clogs with brown permanent marker!

Emotions Run Red...

Part of "Emotions Run Red" in Acrylics

A Dye Job...

On a RAINY afternoon, what's a girl to do? So I went through my sewing notions and haberdashery drawer and came across these very vintage looking Victoriana gloves which had discolored. Now I know that they say you can take care of that with a WEAK bleach solution, but I was feeling adventurous, so I decided to dye them PURPLE(that's what the Rit Dye box says!) Well, it came out the most gorgeous INDIGO BLUE I've ever seen, so I kept going and depending on the absorbency of the material, this is how the items turned out...

I added SALT to the dye solution per Rit's instructions, and did a thorough rinse but will be ironing before I actually use any of these trims to make the color FAST...and keep my fingers crossed, hehe... (and wash items SEPARATELY, of course!)

Showing Your Artistic Flair Thru Clothing!

THE LAYERED LOOK...not quite like Madonna wearing her bra outside, but close...

Ever wanted to get out of the ho-hum everyday look(haha...) and try something different? I started with the plums, then did the browns...

...and finally, this one in olives...somehow it really works!!! Now wearing it out on the street...I think I'll go with the BROWNS first...you'll be seeing me with a smock and black beret soon...or maybe the geisha look/silk dressing gown as JACKET look(my Japanese hairdresser did that!)

The look is achieved by pairing a short sleeved KNITTED top with a blouse but wearing it outside like a VEST! Of course, you could also use a vest...
This faux-fur trimmed hoodie in olive is very bohemian indeed...

Gustav Klimt as Inspiration...

KLIMT

My humble shrine to Klimt and his magnificense and creative genius...

Ever wondered what to wear while painting? Usually it's some old shirt or T-shirt but traditionally it's a denim type shirt/jacket but why not be different and creative... Well this is the Artist's Smock that Klimt wore. I absolutely love the deep turquoise colour and the detail on the shoulders. I have this delim frock that begs some ornamention which I think I will stencil...I'll keep you posted...

Gustav Klimt's Artist's Smock

Fabric paints called "Puff Paints" and "Slick Paints" were used on this top, which I made many years ago. A T-Shirt I wear when I want to be more inspired! But I learned that Klimt too was inspired by his flower garden outside his studio...

My Artist's Smock

I was going through my travel photos and came across this street scene of Amsterdam where a very artistic bus has this wonderful artwork that is reminiscent of Klimt's work!
